Majandra starring in Zoe Lister-Jones Indie Comedy ‘Band Aid’

The movie is a passion project for Lister-Jones, who on top of directing also wrote the script, produced and starred in it. But wait there’s more: She also wrote the original songs.
Life in Pieces star Zoe Lister-Jones, Adam Pally and Fred Armisen are starring in Band Aid, a relationship comedy that Lister-Jones just wrapped directing.

The movie is a passion project for Lister-Jones, who on top of helming also wrote the script, produced and starred in it.

Pally and Armisen star alongside Lister-Jones in the story of a couple who, in the wake of a miscarriage, can’t stop fighting, so decide to turn all their fights into songs and form a rock band to save their marriage.

The cast also includes Hannah Simone (New Girl), Colin Hanks (Fargo), Brooklyn Decker (Grace and Frankie), Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy), Susie Essman (Broad City), Ravi Patel (Meet the Patels), Jamie Chung (Big Hero 6), Chris D’Elia (Undateable), Erinn Hayes (Childrens Hospital), Majandra Delfino (Friends With Better Lives), Jerry O’Connell (Billions), Angelique Cabral (Life in Pieces) and Retta (Parks and Recreation).

Lister-Jones made it a point to have major departments be run by women. Joining her and producer Natalia Anderson were cinematographer Hillary Spera (Blue Angel), production designer Hillary Gurtler (Not Cool), editor Libby Cuenin (Togetherness) and line producer Kristen Murtha (The Great Silence).

Lister-Jones also spearheaded the movie’s music. She wrote the original songs, which were composed by Kyle Forester. She, Pally, and Armisen recorded the music live during production, with Pally on guitar and Armisen on drums.

Band Aid is financed by QC Entertainment with the company’s principals Sean McKittrick, Ray Mansfield, Edward H. Hamm Jr. and Shaun Redick serving as executive producers.

Daryl Wein, Lister-Jones’ husband and partner at their production company Mister Lister Films, also is an exec producer.

Worldwide sales are being co-repped by WME and QC.

Lister-Jones most recently starred in HBO’s Confirmation and is repped by WME, Mosaic and Jackoway Tyerman.

Pally, who co-stars on The Mindy Project, is repped by UTA, 3 Arts and attorney Jon Moonves.

Majandra To Star In ABC Molyneux Comedy Pilot

delfinoMajandra Delfino is set as the female lead opposite James Roday in ABC’s untitled Molyneux comedy pilot (aka The Brainy Bunch), from Imagine TV and 20th TV. Melanie Griffith co-stars in the pilot, written/executive produced by Wendy & Lizzie Molyneux and directed by Jamie Travis inspired by the book by Kip and MonaLisa Harding. Through a combination of genetics and dynamic home schooling, Kip (Roday) — a former Special Forces Operations Sergeant — and MonaLisa Mitchell (Delfino) — a teacher with PH.D. in literature who believes that everyone on Earth is born with a special gift — find themselves raising seven brilliant kids. Zoe Colletti, Spencer Tomich and Harrison Holzer have been cast as three of the kids. Griffith plays MonaLisa’s mother who takes them into her Orange County home. Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo executive produce.

The ABC pilot reunites Delfino with 20th TV after co-starring in the studio’s CBS comedy series Friends with Better Lives.

Friends with Better Lives: Cancelled Sitcom to Be Saved?

Yesterday, CBS cancelled Friends with Better Lives after just five episodes. That’s a pretty quick decision. The studio thinks it’s too quick.

Friends with Better Lives revolves around six young people who are at various stages of their lives — married, divorced, newly engaged, and single. Each wonders if the others have it better. The cast includes Majandra Delfino, Kevin Connolly, Brooklyn Decker, Rick Donald, Zoe Lister-Jones, and James Van Der Beek.

The sitcom premiered to positive numbers (following the series finale of How I Met Your Mother) but the ratings have fallen quite a bit in subsequent weeks.

The numbers were too low for CBS but 20th Century Fox Television, the studio that produces the show, has decided to try shopping the series elsewhere.

CBS will presumably air the rest of the original 13 episodes so it seems like this would be a very tough sell. Still, you never know. If the studio is motivated enough to make a deal, we may see a second season of Friends with Better Lives yet.

CBS Comedy Cancelled after Five Episodes

I’m so upset about this and I will be so mad if they decide to not show all episodes.

In its pursuit to find shows with better ratings, CBS has cancelled Friends with Better Lives, the new Monday night sitcom.

Friends with Better Lives follows the lives of six young people who are at various stages of their lives — married, divorced, newly engaged, and single — with each wondering if the others have it better. The cast includes Majandra Delfino, Kevin Connolly, Brooklyn Decker, Rick Donald, Zoe Lister-Jones, and James Van Der Beek.

This new sitcom debuted at the end of March, following the series finale of How I Met Your Mother. Not surprisingly, it drew solid ratings.

Unfortunately, when Friends with Better Lives returned in its regular timeslot a couple weeks later, viewership dropped more than 25%.

The ratings dropped lower after that and the most recent installment hit a series low with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demograpjic with 4.92 million viewers. For CBS, that just won’t cut it.

The network ordered 13 episodes of the sitcom and five have aired so far. Two more are still on the schedule so it’s unclear right now if the network will end up releasing the rest.
